Viewer

The Viewer is the app at project-vyasa.github.io/vyasa-apps/viewer. Locally: cd apps/viewer && bun run dev → http://localhost:5373/

It opens packed publications (.vyview) from a registry/catalog. It is not Sanskrit Studio.

  1. Start in the library. Catalogs list publications.
  2. Open a publication. The reader lands on the first leaf-container (a chapter, sukta, …), not an empty root.
  3. Use the sidebar to jump. Type a URN in the go-to field (desktop leaf field, or the compact full URN on a handset).

Shareable links look like vyasa://… from the copy control in the chrome.

In the reader or Explore, use Copy a report (the flag beside the link button). Paste that text to the publisher or the Vyasa team. The first lines name the work, the place, and the view. A short packet under the line --- is for whoever is fixing it. The Diagnostics activity, which lists registries and catalogs, stays behind Debug Mode in Settings.

Control What it does
Grid / Reading Grid is columns of streams. Reading (when the pack includes a craft view) is the publisher’s stacked layout.
Language Chrome labels (titles, speaker names) from packed vocabulary streams.
Text size / paper Size of the content iframe, separate from app chrome density. Paper themes come from the pack when present.
Gutter URN badges and annotation marks beside each block.

Grid column order and stream names come from the pack (streams_config, primary_stream). The viewer does not invent publication-specific stream ids.

Explore is a map of leaves (verses, sūtras, …) with facets from graph annotate and block attributes. Filters paint the matrix; Map mode is only offered when a facet has few enough values for unique colors.

Add a local catalog or registry URL if you are serving packs on your machine. The Adi registry stays available.

Packing and context.vy are documented in vyasa-docs, not here.
